- AMAG wins competition: first place in the "Innovation" category
The stage was set for AMAG at the renowned "Austria's Leading Companies" (ALC) national business awards held in the "Aula der Wissenschaften" (Hall of Science) in Vienna.
With its entrepreneurial success story, AMAG won first place in the "Innovation" category. The deciding factors for the jury's decision were the company's impressive achievements in the field of research & development and not least its in-depth knowledge of materials gained over nearly 80 years of experience.
"Innovation and continuous improvement are the key building blocks for our growth and success. The continuous development of materials and production processes requires creativity, targeted research and development, and the consistent implementation of our findings in production. First and foremost, we have to thank our dedicated staff and our clients for this award. The networks established with our clients' development and production departments and with universities and research facilities all play a vital role. They provide us with strong technological competencies for innovation and joint development. With this in mind, we are especially delighted to receive this prestigious award," said Helmut Wieser, CEO of AMAG Austria Metall AG.
The spectrum of applications for AMAG's cast and rolled products is a diverse one. Customers from the automotive, aircraft, commercial vehicle, packaging, electronics, construction and machine construction industries have been relying on AMAG products for many years. The diversity of requirements from these various areas creates a need for innovative power and speed.
With numerous investments in facilities and competencies, as well as the increase in production capacities over the past few years, we have created an excellent starting point. In particular, new standards were set by the site expansion, which reached its peak in June 2017 with the opening of the new cold rolling mill.
The criteria for winning "Austria's Leading Companies" are highly demanding. Companies have to work hard for the prize, which is awarded jointly by Presse, PwC Österreich and the KSV1870. The companies are assessed on the basis of their economic performance over the past few years. Annual balances, credit ratings and liquidity are all taken into account. A scoring system based on weighting individual key performance indicators enables both cross-sector benchmarking and comparisons between SMEs and larger companies.
