Because of its unique physical properties for electronic applications aluminium offers a number of advantages:
- lower specific weight than steel and thus achievement of higher accelerations of moving masses (e.g. parts of hard disks)
- greater strength than plastic allows thickness reduction and thus flatter designs
- rapid heat transport because of higher heat conductivity
- reduced electromagnetic interference (e.g. mobile phones)
- authentic metallic appearance because of (color-)anodising
